I'm a busy dad making tabletop RPGs and print and play board games. I wrote a book on the psychology, cognition, and logistics of Game Mastering and found many of the RPGs I play don't leverage the science and principles enough to support "optimal" play. So instead of game mastering my way out of a hole, I began designing my own games.
Thematically my games reimagine my favorite genres/tropes of media into immersive experiences. Sometimes I leverage childhood nostalgia and sometimes it's my nerdy obsessions of adulthood.
My RPGs are deliberate designs to support player intrinsic motivation in the most efficient way I can. Efficient often means reduced prep time, complex(but not complicated!) rulesets, and open-ended fiction-first mechanics.
My Board games are all built experience-first as 2+-player obnoxiously thematic strategy games focused on replayability, emergent strategy, and optimized suspense.
